Hello to any readers, I have some more things to talk about to do with digital art this month.
I’ve reluctantly started another Twitter (I know it is X now but I still call it that) account just for my blog research because it is still quite useful for that since a lot of people and companies still use it to share things rather than having blogs. I’ve already run into more angsty social media related online drama than I can stomach and tried to avoid bots, bullies and stalkers (yikes). I haven’t got many followers but I’ve never cared about popularity contests anyway. Feel free to follow me over there unless you are a weirdo or a bot.
AI news
It seems the UK government are completely against creatives retaining rights to their own work and they seem deaf to the outrage AI is causing across the industry and with individuals (myself included). There is a story in the Guardian about how they are considering letting the AI companies have rights to scrape content from individuals and organisations unless they explicitly opt out of their data being used. It doesn’t surprise me since one of the the first things they did when they came into power was take away the winter fuel allowance from pensioners. Punishing artists and self employed people is a logical step for these creeps.
An online petition has been started: Statement on AI training “The unlicensed use of creative works for training generative AI is a major, unjust threat to the livelihoods of the people behind those works, and must not be permitted.”
Software News
There is a new version of Inkscape out taking it to version 1.4.
