Thoughts on the Future – Art Squirrel

Hello dear reader.

Once again I am feeling like I need a major reflection and planning session as to what to do regarding my art. Lately I have been unable to do much because I’ve had other more pressing life commitments which have kept me from being able to spend time on it. This is something which is really getting to me as I love doing art but these other commitments are important and unavoidable.

I decided to close my Sketchfab store since it was changing to Fab and was made redundant anyway. I tried signing up to Fab but something went wrong on the backend of it and I found their customer support so abysmal I deleted my Epic Games account as well. I decided that the effort was not worth the bother since I hardly sold any 3D models anyway.

Going forward I will incorporate my 3D work into my 2D design and Illustration work rather than try to have them as a seperate product. As I am not aiming to be a game developer this makes more sense to me anyway. I have to admit that the seperation of my 2D art and 3D art has given me a bit of an identity crisis as I’ve done more 3D art than 2D over the last few years. I need some time to figure things out and re-configure my direction and portfolio to something more consistent and less confusing.

I’ve also closed my Artstation account because I didn’t really enjoy using it and I didn’t feel like it was a good fit for my art since it is aimed primarily toward computer game art.

As for this blog and its future I am uncertain but perhaps when I can find more time for my art again it will become clearer. I will not make any hasty decisions I might regret.

Thanks for reading.
